Before he started Tacoma’s Top Shelf Appliance, owner John Stahfest was repairing high-end appliances, like Viking, Wolf, and Sub Zero. When people trust a repairman with a $12,000 refrigerator or a $10,000 piece of cooking equipment, you can feel confident in the fact that he knows his stuff!
Going back even further, Stahfest started in this industry as a Maytag repairman, carrying out repairs for customers on every major brand you can think of, from Maytag and Whirlpool to G.E. and everything in between.
A Commitment to Quality Service, Always
However, one thing Stahfest noticed during his time in both ends of the industry disturbed him: the customers who owned high-end machines consistently received significantly better service from repair companies than those who purchased the major brands. Stahfest decided that when the day came that he owned his own company, he would always provide high-end service to his customers – regardless of the names on the appliances in their homes.
The way Stahfest sees it, everyone is a human being who is just doing what he or she can to get by in this world. We are all equal, no one better than anyone else simply because of the appliances they can afford. As such, Stahfest believes that every customer deserves the same respect, courtesy, and professionalism that he would expect from an appliance repair company.
A Cut Above the Rest
Stahfest’s goal is to be such an effective repairman that he’s your go-to guy for any issues you may have over the life of your appliances. Says Stahfest:
“I want my customers to be so satisfied with their service that they call me back when their garage door doesn’t work. Now, I don’t work on garage doors, but I want to do such a good job for them that I am the first person they think of when they have any problems.”
In fact, in an effort to make himself more well-rounded, Stahfest attends a servicer’s trade show every year. In doing so, he brushes up on the latest products that are out there so that he has the skills necessary to repair whatever problem arises with whatever machine you may own.
These trade shows also allow him to network with other servicers around the country, as well as with reps for manufacturers. This also gives Stahfest the opportunity to ask these reps any questions he may have with a particular appliance or problem he has had in the previous year.
